


What is the Dragon Boat?
Dragon Boating is an ancient form of canoeing originating in China, whose characteristics make it the ideal sport to practice after breast cancer, as it helps prevent lymphedema.

In January 2023, the Folixa Yacht Club will open its "Dragon Boat" canoeing section for women with cancer, especially breast cancer survivors.
Over time, and thanks to the open days, the team continued to grow, and currently we have open, mixed, and women's teams that are already preparing for their first national competition in the Spanish 200m Dragon Boat Cup. Muiños (Ourense) in April.

Benefits of Dragon Boat Practice for Breast Cancer Patients

•Increases self-esteem.
•It reduces the effects associated with after-effects that can affect the psychological, physical, or social levels. This practice addresses all three by generating support, camaraderie, and joy.
•It helps you feel like you have some control over your recovery, turning this setback into success.
•It is an outdoor sport practiced in contact with the sea, which helps improve physical and emotional well-being.

Over time and thanks to the open days, the team grew a lot, thus having a mixed and female team that is already preparing for its first national competition in April in Muiños.
